Vesting is incorrect for several active participants

Vesting service is calculated when the scrub is run and is determined for active employees as follows:

  • If an employee is on the current year census 'in the grid', the system will first calculate vesting service for the current plan year based on plan specifications for vesting (current year will either be a 1 or 0). The software then adds this value to the ‘prior years of cumulative service for vesting’ field to determine the total number of years of vesting service.

If vesting is incorrect it's generally best to go back to the first year in ftwilliam and correct vesting years of service. You can use the standard first year supplemental grid for this - ‘* ftw First Year Supplemental Census Grid'. There are five prior years of service columns on this grid, the first four are for eligibility and the last one is for vesting. You can correct the data in the vesting column and re-run the scrub in this year and each subsequent year to correct vesting. Note that prior YOS means the number of years of service prior to the current year; e.g. if the first year in ftw is 2017, the Prior YOS Vesting column should be populated with the number of vesting YOS up to and including 2016.

To correct vesting for former participants see: 'How do I get the vesting to be correct for my prior year terms?'
