Below are the known limitations of the Custom Report Editor.
- Reports can print participant level information and plan level information as it relates to a participant. This means that you cannot create a report that only prints plan information.
- Reports print information for a single plan only.
- Reports that have no annual information, such as Service History and Limits tables, cannot have annual fields added to the report, nor filter by annual fields. For example, if I want a report showing all participant's hire and term dates from Service History, I can add Last Name, First Name, SSN as these are all records that persist in each plan year. However, I cannot add Last Day Status, as that is an annual variable. Adding this, tells the report that you only want to see annual data and will then only show status dates that are in the current plan year rather than all plan years. As a work around, you can select to filter and show only Active participants. Please note that this will still show participants below the grid that have not been marked as inactive.
Tips!
- Add all of the fields you want on the report before adding any filters. Print the report to view results, then add one filter at a time until you obtain the results you are looking for.
- Multiple rows are caused by adding fields that have multiple instances. For example, you will almost certainly get a report with multiple rows if you add fields from the below "Field Groups".
- Participant > Service History (multiple rows caused by inherently printing historical data, such as hours for all plan years.) If you only want current year data, do not use fields from this field group.
- Participant > Statement (multiple rows caused by multiple sources and investment accounts)
- Participant > Transaction (multiple rows caused by multiple sources and/or transaction types, etc.)
- Participant > Transaction Batch (multiple rows caused by multiple sources and/or batch types)
Tricks!
- You cannot pull in data specifically for the next year. However, you can get creative! For example, to make a report showing next year HPI's, you will use the current year HPI compensation. Similarly, you can't add a filter to show who will be age 50 next year, but you can display all participants who are greater than or equal to age 49 this year.
