Overview
The Global Print Settings feature allows organizations to establish company-wide default print styles and page orientations for all reports, statements, grids, and user-defined grids within the DC Compliance module. Once configured, these defaults can be applied across plans while still allowing plan-specific exceptions when needed.
Before You Begin
Important Considerations:
Global Print Settings include safeguards because changes can affect all plans within a company code.
Recommendations:
- Limit edit permissions to a small group of experienced administrators.
- Review existing plan-level settings before making global changes.
- Carefully read all confirmation messages before proceeding.
Note: Actions performed through Global Print Settings cannot be undone.
Step 1: Enabling Global Print Settings
Only a Master User can enable Global Print Settings for a company code.
From the Wolters Kluwer logo menu,
- Navigate to Administrative Tasks.
- Select Account Profile.
- Scroll to the DC Global Print Settings section.
- Select the DC Global Print Settings checkbox.
- Click Update.
Once enabled, authorized users will be able to view the default print style and default page orientations on the Global Print Settings page for all reports, statements, and grids in the system.
Step 2: Assigning User Permissions
After the feature is enabled, administrators can determine which users can access the functionality.
From the Wolters Kluwer logo menu,
- Navigate to Administrative Tasks.
- Select Users.
- Open the desired user record.
- Locate the DC Global Print Settings permission.
- Select the appropriate permission level:
| Permission | Access |
| None | User can view Global Print Settings but cannot make changes. |
| Edit | User can view and modify Global Print Settings. |
- Save the user record.
Best Practice: Restrict Edit permissions to a limited number of administrators.
Step 3: Accessing Global Print Settings
Once permissions are set up for users, from within a DC Compliance plan, Navigate to>Tools/Settings>Print Settings>Global.
If the feature has not been enabled or the user lacks appropriate permissions, the report grid will not be visible.
Step 4: Using the Global Default Parameters Help
A Global Default Parameters Help link is always available on the page.
The help window provides:
- Setup information
- Permission requirements
- Descriptions of available actions
- Confirmation message explanations
- Details regarding the impact of changes
This link is available regardless of whether the user has access to the settings grid.
Step 5: Understanding Initial Global Default Values
When Global Print Settings are first established:
Existing Company Codes:
FTWilliam analyzed historical usage and identified the most used Print Style and Page Orientation for each report. These were set as the initial set of default settings for the company code.
New Company Codes:
For newly created company codes, the Default Print Style will be set to Intermediate, and the Default Orientation will be set to Portrait for all reports, statements, and grids.
Step 6: Downloading Non-Default Report Settings
Before making changes, administrators may want to review which reports differ from company defaults.
- Open the Global Print Settings page.
- Select Download File.
The file identifies reports by:
- Plan
- Plan Year
- Report
where either the Print Style or Page Orientation do not match the company defaults.
This report can help determine the potential impact of global updates.
Step 7: Updating Company Code Default Settings
Use this option when you want to establish a new company-code baseline for all reports, statements, and grids.
- Select the desired Print Style.
- Select the desired Page Orientation.
- Click Update Company Code Default Settings.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Select Yes to proceed.
What Happens?
The system:
- Updates the company-code default settings for all reports, statements, and grids.
- Updates plans where both the Print Style and Page Orientation currently match the existing defaults.
- Leaves customized plan settings unchanged.
Any plans with report settings that differ from the current defaults will not be updated.
Step 8: Replacing All Plan-Level Settings
Use this option when you want all plans and plan years to match the selected global settings for all reports, statements, and grids.
- Configure the desired global Print Style and Page Orientation.
- Click Replace All Report Settings at All Plans.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Select Yes.
What Happens?
The system replaces plan-level settings for:
- All plans
- All plan years
- All reports
- All statements
- All grids
with the Global Print Settings currently displayed.
Warning: This action cannot be undone.
Step 9: Updating Individual Reports and Apply to All Plans
Settings can also be modified at the report level.
You may:
- Change a specific report's Print Style.
- Change a specific report's Page Orientation.
- Apply those changes to all plans.
This option provides flexibility when only certain reports require standardization.
Step 10: Managing Plan-Level Print Settings
Plan-level settings allow individual plans to override company defaults when necessary.
To access plan-level Print Settings, from within a DC Compliance plan, Navigate to>Tools/Settings>Print Settings>Plan Level
Step 11: Understanding the Default Indicator
A Default column indicates whether a report matches company defaults.
Default = Yes: Both the report's Print Style and Page Orientation match the company-code defaults.
Default = No: Either the report’s Print Style or Page Orientation differs from the company-code defaults.
The value appears as a clickable link.
Step 12: Change All Reports in a Plan Year
To assign one print style and page orientation to every report in a plan year:
- Select a Print Style.
- Select a Page Orientation.
- Click Change All Reports.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Click Yes.
The selected settings will be applied to all reports in the plan year.
Reports that no longer match company defaults will display Default = No.
Step 13: Restore an Individual Report to Company Code Defaults
When a report displays Default = No, you may restore it to the company code default.
- Click the No link.
- Review the company default values displayed.
- Confirm the restoration.
The report will be updated to match the company-code Print Style and Page Orientation.
The Default indicator will change back to Yes.
Step 14: Restore All Reports to Company Defaults
You can also restore every report in the plan to company code defaults.
- Click Restore All Reports to Default Values.
- Review the confirmation message.
- Confirm the action.
The system restores all reports for the plan within the plan year to the company-code default settings.
Note: This action cannot be undone.
Step 15: How Global and Plan-Level Settings Work Together
A common workflow is:
- Establish company-code defaults using Global Print Settings.
- Apply those defaults to all plans.
- Make plan-specific adjustments only where necessary.
This approach creates consistency while still allowing flexibility for unique plan requirements.
